The inspiration
The heart of this fragrance is a single material. Everything else exists to frame it.
Pepper and saffron open sharp and dry, and they do not sweeten on the way down. The rose arrives into that and has to hold its own without any help from fruit or vanilla, which is a harder job than it sounds. Dry wood and musk sit underneath, keeping the flower from drifting into anything comfortable.
A rose kept at arm's length. Impérial is for people who like roses and dislike being told so. There is nothing sentimental in it.
